NOTES: Those who experience crime are not a monolith, and many victims of crime can experience multiple types of victimization. A one-size-fits-all approach leaves many victims, especially those experiencing intimate-partner violence, without the services and support they need. Service providers need to understand poly-victimization and how it impacts survivors’ experiences with the programs at all levels and work to find the right resources and support mechanisms to serve victims best.
NOTES: “Self-Care” had a promising start when introduced to the field. At its best, it attempted to acknowledge that the job is hard and we need to honor ourselves. Unfortunately, it has now devolved into a concept that, at best, is unattainable, and, at worst, makes you feel worse (the exact opposite of what self-care is supposed to do). This webinar will discuss concrete alternatives to “self-care” and address reasons why it can be a high-risk strategy for providers in the field.

Many factors play into the soundtrack: relationships, mental health, ADHD, a lack of confidence at work, and more. The real question is, if we know these negative soundtracks will play, how can we hit the “Next” button before they cause us to spiral? During this session, we’ll dive into the soundtracks we play in our heads.
